Shifting loyalties in KMC polls common
Both TD and BJP leaders campaign support rebels.
Kakinada: With politics taking the foreground in Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) election, relations between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Telugu Desam took a beating from the controversy of TD MLA from Kakinada, Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao (Kondababu), campaigned for a TD rebel candidate, B. Rama-krishna, instead of supporting the party ally BJP and its candidate Prasada Rao.
Strangely, however, BJP district president as well as a candidate contesting the civic polls Y. Malakondaiah also campaigned for the TD rebel candidate with Kondababu.
Meanwhile, a former district president of BJP V. Suryanarayana Raju campaigned with BJP candidate Mr Prasada Rao. The other group from the BJP condemned this finding fault with the BJP leadership in this matter.
Another Independent candidate Dusarlapudi Ramana Raju, meanwhile, criticised both the parties and challenged Kondababu to be fair in politics and defeat him. He said that the YSR Congress and the TD could not field any local candidates for the polls.
