Maoist Couple With Rs 82 Lakhs Bounty Held in Madhya Pradesh
Bhopal: A Maoist couple were on Tuesday arrested in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.
Ashok Reddy alias Baldev (62) who carried total bounties of Rs 83 lakh on his head in four states and his wife Remti alias Kumari Pottai (43) were arrested from a private hospital in Jabalpur, sources in anti-terrorist squad (ATS) of Madhya Pradesh said.
Acting on a tip off that the Maoist couple are coming to the particular private hospital in Jabalpur for treatment, an ATS team on Tuesday raided the hospital and arrested the two alleged Naxals, sources said.
Ashok Reddy, hailing from Telangana, was a member of Dandakaranya Special Committee Zone (DKZC) of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) while his wife, a resident of Narayanpur district under Bastar in Chhattisgarh, served in the publicity wing of the Maoists’ outfit, sources said.
Ashok Reddy has over 60 cases registered against him in various police stations in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra, an ATS member said, unwilling to be quoted.
A pistol, cartridges and a cash of Rs three lakh were seized from them, sources said.
They were being brought to Bhopal for interrogation, sources added.
