Guntur: Palnadu of Guntur on Thursday was worse hit than Hyderabad due to heavy rains.

Rain wreaked havoc on Palnadu of Guntur on Thursday causing several casualties, bringing the rail and road traffic to a standstill and also causing huge crop loss.

As many as four people were washed away, a boy drowned while a pregnant woman was electrocuted in flash floods. The body of a 45-year-old man was retrieved at Brahmanapalli. Road connection from Chilakaluripeta, Narasaraopet, Macharla and other areas to Guntur was cut off.

Three farmers - N. Yalamanda, N. Prabhakar and N. Prabhudas were being carried away by Yedduvagu stream at Gorantla when locals stepped in for their help. However, Prabhudas, 18, was washed away in the floodwaters.
