Bengaluru: Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya who venture to deliver a lecture on the achievements of the Siddaramaiah government, received a dressing down of sorts on Friday from a tenth standard student over the condition of government-run schools in the state.

Not stopping at this, the girl said that her appeal to CM Siddaramaiah to set right deficiencies in government schools, had gone unanswered.

Mr Anjaneya while participating in the ' Pratibha Karanji' programme at the Government Boys PU College in Chitradurga, spoke at length on the programmes launched by his government for the welfare of school children in the last four and a half years. He said great personalities like Dr B.R. Ambedkar, Sir M Visvesvaraya and Prof U.R. Rao had reached the heights of excellence despite studying in government schools.

The minister did not forget to mention various bhagyas launched by Mr Siddaramaiah to give an impetus to health and education.

He concluded his speech saying government schools should not be neglected.

After the function was over, the minister was leaving when Nayana, a tenth standard student of Vidya Vikas School stopped Mr Anjaneya and took him to task in full public view. She said she had met and requested the CM to improve the condition of  government schools but nothing had happened. She said the condition of government schools would not improve unless elected representatives and government officials enroll their wards in the schools.

Her tone and tenor might have reminded Mr Anjaneya of the criticism he often has to face  from opposition parties in the Legislative Assembly and Council.

Recovering from the  shock administered by the student, Mr Anjaneya left in a huff promising to improve government schools.
