Hyderabad: Cops arrest fake baba for looting innocent public
Police swung into action following a complaint from Jawed khan, 42, who was into videography business.
Hyderabad: A fake baba, who lured and looted gullible people promising to resolve their problems and cure illnesses through chanting and black magic, was arrested in the Old City by the Hussainialam police on Sunday.
Referred to as “Tipu baba”, the god man extensively promoted himself using YouTube on which he uploaded “healing videos” to attract more devotees.
Police swung into action following a complaint from Jawed khan, 42, who was into videography business. Khan had hired one Md Irfan as a videographer. Khan later came to know through his friends that Irfan had visited Tipu baba over ill health. The fake god man told Irfan that his illness was due to his boss (Khan) having performed black magic on him, Hussainialam Inspector Ramesh Kotwal said.
Like he always did, Tipu baba also uploaded videos of him “treating” Irfan chanting that the malik (boss) had performed jadu (magic) on naukar (employee) Irfan. On coming to know of this, complainant Khan made inquiries and came to know that Tipu baba had posed as a god man and cheated many innocents of huge sums on the pretext of solving their health, family, personal or business problems. Subsequently, Khan lodged a complaint with the Hussainialam police.
