Rangotsava: First stop for theatre lovers
300 students from nine colleges to stage nine plays from Sept. 24.
Mysuru: Theatre lovers can enjoy as many as nine plays which will be staged by 300 students from nine colleges, during BV Karanth Rangotsava at Rangayana, from September 24 as part of the Dasara festivities.
As many as 18 junior directors of Rangayana, have conducted theatre workshops for these 300 students from nine colleges of Mysuru, Mandya and Kodagu. Students of Shanthi arts, science and commerce college, Malavalli will stage P Lankesh's play ‘Anishchitha E-Baduku’, directed by Ajjaiah C and Girish H.M. on September 24. Students of BHS higher education society T Narsipur will stage Belur Ramamurthy's play ‘Bombaat Beechi’ directed by Vinod and Ravi Kyathanahalli on September 25 followed by a performance by students of government first grade college, KR Pet who will stage Shakespeare‘s ‘King Lear’ (translated to Kannada) on September 26.
Urs first grade college, Hunsur will stage B.T. Munirajaiah's ‘Puraana Prahasana’ directed by Mahanthesh and Subhash on September 27. Students of District Education and Training Institute, Kodagu will stage Dr Thippeswamy's play ‘Raavi Nadiya Dandeyalli’ directed by Shreyas and Veerabhdrappa Annegeri on September 28. Government first grade college students of Mandya will perform Linagadevaru Halemane's ‘Hyder’ on September 29. Students of Mahajana PUC college, Mysuru will stage Usha Narasimhan's play "Kanchugannadi" directed by Vikram and Chandini P on October 2.
Students of Nataraja women's residential college, Hoskote will stage Vykam Bashir and Sara Aboobakkar's play ‘Yuddha mugivudaadare?" on October 4.
