Chennai: History sheeter murdered at wedding event

Chennai: A 24-year-old was murdered after a fight broke out during a wedding in Santhome on Sunday evening. The man, identified as Vijay, 24, from Nochi Kuppam had gone to attend a wedding reception of one of his friends Babu near Santhome Church. While he was drunk and dancing, he is said to have disturbed Ulaganathan, who, also drunk got offended and picked a fight.
Vijay was pushed out of the hall by the family of the groom. Insulted, he rushed home and came back with a knife to stab Ulaganathan, police sources said.
When Vijay returned, a gang attacked him with wooden logs. He took a severe beating but managed to escape from the hall. However, he succumbed to injuries near Kutchery street, police sources said.
The Mylapore police were immediately alerted. They rushed to the spot and arrested the four men - Ulaganathan 26, Manikandan, 25, Ashok, 22 and Jayakumar, 28.
Vijay's body was sent to the Royapettah government hospital for post-mortem. It was also found that Vijay was a history-sheeter who had cases of assault and attempt to murder case against him.
