Telangana: Cabbies meet transport commissioner

Transport Commissioner Sunil Sharma said he would arrange a meeting between them and the Ola and Uber managements, in his presence.

The first to crack down on these app-based cabs specially the popular Uber and Ola came from the Karnataka government in early April.

Hyderabad: As part of a pan-India protest called by the International Transport Federation (ITF) on Monday, the Telangana cab drivers employed by cab aggregator companies Uber and Ola chose the ‘Gandhigiri’ way to present their demands. Representatives of the cab drivers met Transport Commissioner Sunil Sharma at the Secretariat and gave him roses before explaining their issues peacefully. 

Mr Sharma said he would arrange a meeting between them and the Ola and Uber managements, in his presence, and resolve the issue as soon as possible.

President of the Telangana Four Wheeler Drivers’ Association, Shaik Salauddin, said they chose a peaceful way of protest.
