Bengaluru: While the J.C. Nagar Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Manjunath Babu was caught on camera caning a hotel owner and subsequently faced a departmental inquiry, a protest rally was carried out in RT Nagar on Wednesday demanding that no action should be taken against the ACP.
Members of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV), Praveen Shetty faction, along with Hebballa Residents Welfare Association staged a protest in front of R.T. Nagar police station demanding that the ACP should be spared as he was honest.
The demonstrators also submitted a memorandum in this regard to the DCP Chethan Singh Rathor, who had conducted the departmental inquiry.
It may be recalled that DCP Rathor had submitted the report to the city Police Commissioner T. Suneel Kumar in which, according to a source, the ACP was found guilty of dereliction of duty.
