2019 elections: Congress plans people's manifesto

Vijayawada: The Congress plans to prepare people’s manifesto with the demands from the public for the year 2019 elections. 

The Congress leaders sought to strengthen Panchayat Raj system to serve the public better and further asked the party leaders to include the changes to the Panchayat Raj and development of local panchayats in its central election manifesto. The meeting of Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Sanghatan (RGPRS) was held in the State Congress headquarters Andhra Ratna Bhavan at Vijayawada on Thursday.

AP Congress committee vice-president Dr N. Thulasi Reddy said that APCC president Rahul Gandhi formed the year election manifesto committee to prepare public manifesto and appointed former Union minister Chidambaram as its president. He said that the manifesto committee further appointed 21 teams to collect public opinions and prepare people’s manifesto. He said that the committee led by former union minister Ms Meenakshi Natarajan and RGPRS AP team spoke with the sarpanches.
