HYDERABAD: Around 43 per cent posts in the civil police and another 75 per cent in the armed reserve unit are lying vacant in Cyberabad.

About 1,700 posts of constables are yet to be filled in Cyberabad alone. At present, the strength is about 3,000.

“Despite the shortage, we are managing with the available resources and relying on technology to solve cases. Apart from policing, we have to make security arrangements for mega events, VVIPs movements and then handle big processions,” said Mr Sandeep Shandilya.

The police hope they get about 500 new persons next year on completion of training. “Still there will be a shortage of about 1,200 personnel. The government has taken up the process of filling up the vacant posts and we hope to fill it up in next two years,” said Mr Shahnawaz Qasim, JCP, Cyberabad.
