Kochi: The National Train Enquiry System (NTES) of the Indian Railways is giving a hard time for short distance commuters here. While the enquiry site shows the holiday special train (T No. 08568) Kollam-Vishakapatnam Express stops at Ernakulam Junction, the train actually runs on Kottayam line and has halt only at Ernakulam North. “The bi-weekly special train that runs on Monday and Friday was introduced from December four onwards as festival special.

The enquiry site on which hundreds of passengers depend, shows it passes through the Ernakulam Junction and has stoppage there. Since it reaches here during office time, a lot of unreserved commuters used to depend on it from stations like Kollam and Kayamkulam,” said P. Krishnakumar, General Secretary, Thrissur Railway Passengers Association. He rued the railways is yet to make correction in the online search engine despite discrepancy being brought to its notice.

“I boarded the train from Kayamkulam after rushing to catch it based on mobile search. The sites such as ‘railenquiry.in’ and the National Train Enquiry System show it has stops at Ernakulam Jn. The train was over seven hours late. But it didn’t go to the Ernakulam South station and had to de-board at Ernakulam Town,” said S Anil Kumar, a Kayamkulam native who works at Kochi as a system Engineer.
