Nellore: Negligence of sanitary supervisors to clear the silt removed from the canals at Balaji Nagar area of Nellore city came in for sharp criticism from the YSRC leaders. Pointing to the unbearable foul smell from the silt dumps, they alleged that de-silting operations are not carried out in a systematic manner in the City. During a visit to the area on Friday, Nellore urban MLA Dr P. Anilkumar Yadav has rebuked the civic body authorities for not taking any initiative to discuss and pacify the sanitary workers abstaining from work since last four days.

Reminding that residents of the city are already suffering from dengue, he rebuked the urban development minister P. Narayana for not taking any initiative to discuss and sort out the issues of sanitary staff who are on warpath since last seven months. Mr Yadav alleged that the minister's concentration is on reviews and revenue and not on addressing the problems of the people living in the city.

The legislator also pulled up the corporation for not supervising the underground drainage works even as the roads dug up for the scheme not restored properly.
Referring to the stink at the Mosque centre in Balaji Nagar, he dared the urban development minister to come and stand in the area for 10 minutes. He advised the minister to spare the lakhs of rupees being spent for swachh Nellore publicity to improve sanitary conditions in the City.
