Visakhapatnam: DCI shore staff to intensify stir, fast enters 25th day

The relay fast of the workers has entered the 25th day on Friday.

The shore staff of the Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) plans to intensify the strike against the Union government's decision to shell out its equity stake in the public sector unit.

Visakhapatnam: The shore staff of the Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) plans to intensify the strike against the Union government’s decision to shell out its equity stake in the public sector unit. The relay fast of the workers has entered the 25th day on Friday, while it was the third day of their indefinite strike. Both the DCI officers’ and non-executive staff associations are participating in the strike.

However, the dredging employees are not involved in the strike till now. The shore employees have threatened to scale up the agitation with the support of several organisations and political parties. The YSRC leaders, Janasena members and Democratic Youth Federation of India members extended their support to the protesting employees. Abdul Gani Sarang, general secretary of National Union of Seafarers of India (NUSI) from Mumbai also supported them on the same day.
