Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reviewed the Polavaram dumping yard works.

As part of virtual inspection of Polavaram project on Monday, the CM spoke to the West Godavari district collector over Polavaram dumping yard. The officials and representatives of construction companies informed the CM that they couldn't complete cent percent works during Sankranthi, as workers were not available.

Mr Naidu said the Polavaram project diaphragm and fabrication of crest gates work will commence on January 29. He directed the officials to work with a coordination to complete the works as per schedule.

He conducted a virtual inspection on the progress of Polavaram project works from AP Secretariat. Later, Mr Naidu told the media that it was necessary to expedite the Polavaram project works.

He said the officials have to complete earth works in a stretch of 502.67 lakh cubic metres, including 10 lakh cubic metres spill way, 302.08 lakh cubic metres spill channel, 27.05 lakh cubic metres left flank, 119.41 lakh cubic metres approach channel and 44.13 lakh cubic metres pilot channel works. The CM discussed with the West Godavari collector over telephone to end the Polavaram dumping yard problem.

Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Chief Secretary S.P. Tucker, CMO secretary G. Saiprasad were present. The Chief Minister said the state government has decided to release water on gravity from Polavaram project by 2018 and complete the project by 2019.
