Govt keen on projecting itself: Tamilisai Soundararajan
The hike in the bus fare would add to the burden of the public.
Chennai: Contending that the timing for bus fare hike, and giving subsidy for two-wheeler scheme to women though welcome, caused qualms on the government's concern for people, BJP state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan has alleged that the state government is keen on projecting itself.
“They (ruling AIADMK) have launched schemes to project themselves but not to serve the people because doubts are being raised over hiking the bus fare and starting the two-wheeler subsidy scheme for women, that was launched long ago,” she said on Tuesday. She announced that her party would stage agitations in all districts in the state condemning the increase in bus fares and demanding the immediate roll back.
The hike in the bus fare would add to the burden of the public. It was not appropriate for the government to increase the bus fare when the transport workers had just called off their strike, she said.
To a question, she replied that the BJP is emerging as a “strong force” in TN and that the party would prove its “strength” in the local bodies elections (which is to be announced). “We are getting geared up to show our strength….We are not prepared to talk about alliance at this juncture but would say the BJP will make a huge impact in the next Parliament elections too,” Dr Tamilisai added.
The BJP, she said, would win many constituencies in the next Tamil Nadu Assembly elections as the party is growing in the State rapidly due to the patronage from the people who are impressed with many welfare initiatives of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central government. “The support for the BJP is growing in Tamil Nadu. I am sure the party will win more number of seats in the TN Assembly polls,” she said and added that the BJP's victory would lead to troubles for the ruling AIADMK.
