THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Apart from the existing crop of youth legislators, the CPM is looking for more young popular leaders for fielding them in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

Party sources said that the CPM list of candidates for the polls would comprise a mix of youth and experience.  The CPM is looking for youth representation in all 14 districts.

Many young legislators like T. V. Rajesh, R. Rajesh, A. Pradeep Kumar, S Sreeramakrishnan, V. Chenthamarakshan, Babu M. Pallissery, Saju Paul, B. Sathyan and A. M. Arif are likely to be retained for yet another term.

Others like V. Sivankutty and Suresh Kurup, who qualify to be youth considering the average age of legislators in the state Assembly, might also try their luck this time around.

The names of DYFI state secretary M. Swaraj, joint secretaries P. A. Mohammad Riyaz, A. N. Shamsheer, treasurer K. S. Sunil Kumar are also doing the rounds for seats in Palakkad, Kozhikode, Kannur and Thiruvananthapuram districts respectively.

“We have always given priority to young leaders in all elections be it Assembly or Parliament. It is not going to be any different this time. We will field some more youth leaders,” said CPM politburo member M A Babu. He said even in Lok Sabha elections, the party had fielded young leaders M B Rajesh, P K Biju and A Sampath.
