BJP's Baddam Bal Reddy passes away

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao expressed his condolences on Reddy's demise.

Hyderabad: Senior BJP leader and three-time Karwan MLA Baddam Bal Reddy, passed away in a corporate hospital on Saturday. He was 74.

According to hospital sources, Mr Reddy was diagnosed with a small bowel malignancy that had spread to other organs before he developed symptoms. He underwent a surgery to remove the tumor, but 10 days later he developed sepsis and renal failure from which he could not recover. On Saturday, he was put on ventilator and hemodialysis support, but the doctors declared him dead in the evening.

He was famous as “Golconda Lion” in his bastion. In 2004, he was the target of an assassination attempt by members of a group trained by the ISI.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao expressed his condolences on Reddy’s demise. He conveyed his condolences to members of his family. He commended the services rendered by Mr Reddy in his public life.

The body was taken to his residence in Banjara Hills where hundreds of supporters turned up to pay homage. Senior leaders of various parties visited the house and paid tribute. Among them were minister T. Srinivas Yadav, former Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya, BJP leaders Dr K. Laxman, Mr G. Kishan Reddy and Mr Indrasena Reddy. The body will be kept at the party’s headquarters at 12 noon on Sunday and will be taken at 2 pm for the last rites at Shamshan Ghat near the dargah in Madhapur.
