Para forces airlifted to Kashmir

SRINAGAR: The Union home ministry has called for the urgent deployment of one hundred more companies of Central Armed Police Forces in Kashmir. We have to urgently deploy CAPFs in J&K, a home ministry letter to the state government said.

The Border Security Force (BSF) and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) are replacing the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for static guard duties in Kashmir Valley including summer capital Srinagar.  

An order issued by the J&K police on Saturday said that the move to give static duties to BSF and ITBP has been taken to strengthen the law and order grid in Kashmir.

The BSF and ITBP personnel who are replacing the CRPF for static guard duties are among the 100 companies of the Central armed forces airlifted from Delhi on Friday night.
