Many social media users saw “an undeclared emergency†in University of Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: There was concern on social media on Wednesday over the shutdown of the UoH campus. Netizens condemned the shut down of Internet, water, food and ATM facilities on the campus. Videos of police th-rashing students and faculty members have also been widely circulated on Facebook and Twitter. The hashtags #JusticeForRohith, #StandWithRohithVemula, #UoHemergency, #policecrackdown, #dalitlivesmatter, #studentlivesmatter were trending on social media. One of the most circulated posts in Facebook and Twitter stated: #Fire Appa Rao (the V-C).

Many social media users saw “an undeclared emergency” in UoH. “This is how the long arm of the law is used to crush student protests. By cutting off food, water, and police brutality,” posted writer Meena Kandasamy on Facebook. Another user @samjawed65  Tweeted: “While a crisis is unfolding at the #UoH, HRD minister is in the news for her sari collection.”

Seriously?? Blocking debit cards issued from UOH SBI Branch?! Come on Appa Rao!! Which all method will you make possible to provoke us?! Testing our patience?! Though our struggle will remain democratic by all means (sic),” posted another social media user, Mehjabeen.  Meanwhile, many UoH students took to Facebook and Twitter to update on the ordeal they were going through inside the campus. Since there was an Internet shutdown, many were using dongles and Internet mobile packs.
