Puttaparthi turns hot at 46.8ºC

Srisailam in Kurnool district reported 44.8ºC and Kondapuram in Kadapa district had a high of 44.9ºC.

Hyderabad: Puttaparthi in Rayala-seema sizzled at 46.8ºC on Wednesday, which ironically was World Meteorological Day. Srisailam in Kurnool district reported 44.8ºC and Kondapuram in Kadapa district had a high of 44.9ºC.

Vijayapuram in Chittoor district recorded 44.2ºC. According to the AP State Development and Planning Society’s automatic weather stations, mercury levels have been touching maximum levels in Rayalaseema for the past four days. Kurnool district averaged 43.4ºC followed by Kadapa and Anantapur with 43.1ºC, and Chittoor district with 41.8ºC degrees on Wednesday.

Telangana too sizzles, Hyderabad at 40ºC

More than 40 mandals in Anantapur and Kurnool districts and 37 mandals in Kadapa district reported 40ºC. The heat wave will continue till the end of the month, predicted the Met department. Meanwhile, districts in Telangana too witnessed a hot Wednesday.

Khammam, Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar recorded 42ºC while Hyderabad recorded 40ºC.  IMD authorities stated there would be no major change in the maximum temperatures in Telangana. They were markedly above normal at one or two places in the state.

The minimum temperatures, too, were appreciably below normal at a few places in Telangana. The lowest minimum temperature of 19ºC was recorded in Adilabad.
