Hyderabad: To ensure the free flow of traffic at the Kothaguda junction, the Cyberabad traffic police has submitted a plan to the GHMC to remove a few obstructions.

Major obstructions observed at Kothaguda circle were at the Bank of India ATM building, a few buildings till Mahindra showroom, a mosque, burial ground, retail shops, a small temple, electrical HT lines and a few hotels.

According to Cyberabad traffic police, within two to three years, a few malls are expected to come up near the junction, That is why there is an urgency to develop the junction to avoid traffic jams.

Among 160 junctions in Cyberabad, the traffic police has prioritized 69 for development. The first six are at Kothaguda, Nizampet, JNTU, Miyapur, Narsapur and Biodiversity.

Cyberabad DCP Traffic A.R. Srinivas said, “We are working on the development of the junctions. We have met officials regarding removal of obstructions at the Kothaguda junction. The main problem is removal of a small temple and a small mosque as it is difficult to convince the people concerned. Either the shrines should be removed or a skyway or flyover should be built to solve the traffic issues.”

Madhapur traffic police Inspector T. Narsing Rao said, ‘’Kothaguda junction has become prone to accidents as the road is very narrow. To avoid accidents and to increase the width of the road earlier the walls of the mosque as well as temple were resized. Space will be provided to shift the temple, mosque and shops. All the three roads connected to the Kothaguda junction are being developed for the traffic-free  flow of traffic.”
