Congress 2nd list for Lok Sabha polls released

Similarly, names of candidates for 54 Assembly segments in the state was also announced.

Bhubaneswar: The All-India Congress Committee (AICC) released its second list of candidates for two Lok Sabha and 54 Assembly constituencies of Odisha, through an official notification late on Friday night.

Samarendra Mishra, son of the Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Narasingha Mishra, will contest from Bolangir Lok Sabha seat, while Saptagiri Ulka is in the fray from Koraput LS seat. However, the party is yet to announce its candidate for the Aska Lok Sabha seat, which will go to polls in the second phase.

So far, names of eight candidates out of nine Lok Sabha seats, which will go to polls in the first and second phase on April 11 and April 18 respectively, have been announced by the Congress.

Similarly, names of candidates for 54 Assembly segments in the state was also announced. Bismaya Mahapatra, who was given a ticket from Digapahandi Assembly constituency in the first list, has been replaced by Prafulla Panda in the second list.

Besides, Ripunath Seth will contest elections against BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik from Bijepur, while Saroj Mahapatra is in the fray from Bhatli. Sitting Congress MLA Prafulla Majhi, who has won thrice from Talsara Assembly segment and is considered a traditional stronghold of the party, has once again been fielded from the constituency.
