Hyderabad: 55 Turmeric farmers file nominations

Hyderabad: Turmeric farmers have filed 55 nomination papers in Nizamabad LS constituency to highlight their protest against the low prices for their produce.

According to the Election Commission, the only other nominations filed were by Mr Dharmapuri Anand from the BJP and TRS MP K. Kavitha.

Sources said the number would increase as around 500 farmers have decided to file nominations before the process ends on Monday.

The next highest in the state is 19 nominations in Malkajgiri, 15 at Bhongir and Nalgonda.
