Kakinada: YSR Congress Chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has opined that a law should be enacted for the implementation of election manifesto, after political parties come to power.

Addressing a public meeting at Pithapuram on Saturday evening, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy said that political parties should be made accountable to the people and if they don’t fulfil the promises made or implement the programmes mentioned in the election manifesto, action should be taken against them. Under such circumstances, a political party should resign from power. “There should be a legislation to achieve the objective,” Jagan said.

He said all political parties are making unrealistic promises and garnering votes from the people and after they come to power, they forget these promises. He cited the example of the TD that made so many promises in the 2014 elections and ignored them.

He said that in Pithapuram meeting, Chandrababu Naidu promised the Kapu community of Rs 1,000 crore per annum for their welfare, but failed to release even `1,300 crore. Mr Naidu also promised a loan waiver, DWCRA loans and others. But, none of the promises were fulfilled, he said.
