Hyderabad: A 12-year-old boy was killed and another kid was seriously injured when a van rammed into a wall and it collapsed on the children. The boys were playing cricket and had come to drink water near the wall seconds before the mishap.
The victim, Md. Bilal, died on the spot due to serious head injuries. He was trapped under the debris of the wall. Another boy, Md Salim, suffered major fractures and is now in hospital.
The incident occurred in the Bholakpur residential area in the afternoon. “The boys were playing cricket. They had kept water near the wall which collapsed. While they were drinking water standing near the wall, the van driver reversed without seeing the wall and it fell on the boys. Bilal suffered serious injuries and died on the spot,” said inspector Rama Chandra Reddy. The public rushed Salim to hospital. “The driver was negligent. He did not look behind while reversing. We booked a case against him for causing death through negligence,” the inspector said. After the accident the driver ran away fearing attack by locals. Police seized the vehicle.
