Telangana: Statute protects Muslims, says Shabbir Ali
The BJP-led NDA government has deliberately raising minority issues like triple talaq, Muslim quota, says Shabbir.
Hyderabad: The Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Shabbir Ali on Sunday criticised Union law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad for his remarks on Muslims and accused him of seeking to divert public attention from the failures of the BJP-led governments at Centre and in 13 states.
In a statement, Mr Shabbir said that claims of the Union minister that Muslims “do not vote for BJP”, but still the ruling party gave them “sanctity”, thoroughly exposed the hypocrisy of the BJP. “It is not the BJP but the Constitution that has given the Muslims that leverage in view of the social and economic backwardness of Muslims,” he asserted.
“The BJP-led NDA government has deliberately raising minority issues like triple talaq, Muslim quota, and beef meat, among others to divert the public attention from its failures like farmer suicides, price rise, etc,” he added.
