Students say, don't attend Osmania University fete
OU students played a key role the Telangana statehood agitation but the TRS government and Mr Rao were ignoring the university.
Hyderabad: Seven student unions from Osmania University have written separate open letters to President Pranab Mukherjee, Governor E.S.L.Narasimhan and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao in connection with centenary celebrations.
They requested Mr Narasimhan and Mr Rao not to attend the inaugural fete on April 26 for failing to restore the university to its past glory.
The students requested Mr Mukherjee to highlight the problems the university was facing due to neglect by successive state governments. This, they hoped, would lead to betterment of the university.
OU students played a key role the Telangana statehood agitation but the TRS government and Mr Rao were ignoring the university, just like previous “Seemandhra governments,” they said.
They were critical of the Governor for not taking any initiative to address the problems plaguing the university for a long time despite being the Chancellor.
The letter was written by the All India Students Federation, Progressive Democratic Students Union, Students Fede-ration of India, Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika among others.
