Andhra Pradesh will top horticulture in 3 years
Revenue generated by horticulture plants is more than that of other agri produce.
Vijayawada: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said AP will lead others in horticulture in the next three years. He visited the state’s first culture show and mango festival here on Monday. He urged farmers to make use of latest technology and reap the benefits of good yield. In terms of revenue generation, the share of horticulture products is more than that of other agriculture produce put together, he said and added that America, China and African countries were enjoying the benefits of modern technology in cultivation.
He said there are plans to promote horticulture cultivation in 40 lakh acres in Krishna district and hoped that the extent of cultivation would increase in the future. He said the government waived loans to the tune of Rs 24,000 crore for farmers and that it was providing a subsidy of Rs 10,000 for each horticulture farmer every year. He said the government would encourage horticulture in Rayalaseema districts as less water was needed to grow the plants. Agriculture minister P. Pulla Rao, ZP chairperson G. Anuradha and others accompanied the CM.
