Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh police have put their social media labs on high alert after the ISIS video that threatens to avenge Babri demolition and killing of Muslims in Gujarat, Kashmir and Muzaffarnagar.
UP DGP Javeed Ahmed told reporters that “We have put our social media labs on alert as well and will leave nothing to chance. We will keep a check on posts that are sympathetic to the ISIS ideology and also an eye on youths who could be lured by the ISIS propaganda.
Apart from putting its social media monitoring labs on alert, the DGP said that the intelligence networks were also being sensitized in communally sensitive districts in the wake of the ISIS propaganda.
The 22-minute documentary, mostly in Arabic, shows jihadists, supposedly from India, who have joined ISIS ranks, threatening to ‘return’ to ‘avenge killing of Muslims in India’.
The DGP said that the UP police were in touch with the central intelligence agencies on the issue. “We are coordinating with our sister concerns at the national level while the resources available at the state level are keeping a close watch on any development which is beyond the usual”, he said.
