Bengaluru: Even after 3 days, rain victim's body not found
Owing to heavy rains on Monday evening, the search operations were called off. However, it resumed on Tuesday.
Bengaluru: Even after three days of intense combing operation through the Storm Water Drain (SWD), the body of Shantakumar, who was washed away on Saturday remains untraced.
Shantakumar, an earthmover operator, was washed away in drain at Kurubarahalli following an incessant rain that lashed on Saturday. Though the combing operation was carried out till Byramangala lake, which is about 25 km from the accident site, but the body was not found. It is suspected that the body may have got decomposed in sewerage water.
Nearly 400 people from different rescue operation squads carried out search through the storm water drains in Kengeri and Jnanabharathi. BBMP had deployed about 300 people and a 20-member team from Karnataka State National Disaster Monitoring Centre and an additional 20 from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) too were pressed into service.

Expert divers and swimmers were pressed into service to fish out the body from Parasanapalya drain, which is about 16 km from Kurubarahalli.
Mayor G. Padmavathi visited the spot where rescue operation was being carried out. Later she told reporters that she was hopeful of finding the body. If it is not found on Tuesday, then expert opinion will be sought on the future course of action, she added.
