Hyderabad: Deal inked to develop drug for psoriasis

Hyderabad: The Union department of science and technology, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd, Dr Reddy’s Institute of Life Sciences and the University of Hyderabad signed an agreement to initiate a project for discovery and development of anti-psoriatic drugs.

The project, worth Rs 190 lakh, aims at developing anti-psoriatic drugs. The method which will be followed is development of selective inhibitors of 12R-LOX — an enzyme — by employing conventional as well as molecular modelling and drug design approaches.

The project hopes to meet and unmet medical need and proposes to establish a national research and development facility to work on inflammatory disorders.
