Hyderabad:  Avinash Reddy didn’t appear before the CBI thrice despite notices being issued by the CBI to him. For the first notice on May 16, he informed the CBI that he had prior official engagements in Pulivendula and sought four days’ time.

When the CBI issued another notice for his appearance on May 19, Avinash informed the agency that he was standing by his mother undergoing treatment at a private hospital and this would continue for a week.

Avinash has been at a private in Kurnool where his mother Srilakshmi was undergoing treatment for cardiac-related issues.

While rumours spread in the past few days that the CBI has sent a team to Kurnool to arrest the MP, a large number of YSRC cadres gathered near the hospital from Kurnool and Kadapa areas to put up a resistance. The Kurnool police told the CBI team that there could be law and order problems if the arrest was made now.

The CBI team met Kurnool SP on Monday and Tuesday seeking assistance to detain Avinash Reddy but gave up their effort and returned to Hyderabad.
