Kochi: Man arrested for attempt to blackmail actor

Kochi: Police on Sunday arrested a former production executive for allegedly posting “intimate” pictures of a prominent actress on social media and then attempting to blackmail her.

Kiran Kumar, 38, a native of Ottapalam currently residing at Uday-amperoor near Tripun-ithura, was arrested on her complaint.

According to police, he had worked as a production executive in 2008 and had a close relationship with the actor then.

“He then cheated her by not disclosing the fact that he was married. The duo later ended their relationship and parted ways,” an officer said. However, it was when the accused attempted to blackmail the actor by threatening to post the pictures on WhatsApp and Facebook that she decided to complain.
