Telangana: Doctors say stipends delayed

The finance department has released only 25 per cent of the budget.

Hyderabad: Senior resident doctors and PG students in medical colleges and government hospital have not been paid their stipend and have threatened to go on strike. 

Dr G. Srinivas, senior resident doctor at Osmania General Hospital, said, “Stipends are not being paid in time. The finance department has released only 25 per cent of the budget. They are supposed to release the full budget every three months so that the payments can be made.”

Dr Vivekananda, senior resident at Nizamabad government general hospital, said, “Despite several representations, the government is not releasing the payments on time. We have decided to go on a strike if we do not receive our payments.”

Dr B.K. Mahesh, another senior resident, said the money for stipends had been provided in the budget, but payments were getting delayed.
