Hyderabad: Retail shops, art in Metro stations soon
Till the entire system is operational, we will start retail sections only at places which have a sufficient number of passengers.
Hyderabad: Retail marketing at the concourse level of the Ameerpet Metro Rail interchange station is shaping up with the inclusion of an art gallery and a cafe.
The retail section is a part of the agreement for L&T Metro Rail to recover the cost for the project.
While all stations will ultimately have a chain of retail stores, the focus is on the Ameerpet station, which sees a large number of passengers. A senior official said, “The Parade ground station is not seeing the numbers we had expected. Till the entire system is operational, we will start retail sections only at places which have a sufficient number of passengers.”
This would mean stations at Ameerpet, Miyapur and Nagole, which have more walk-ins. The Ameerpet interchange station now has a grocery, sweet shop, cafe and an art gallery. The retail sections is to help commuters shop for their daily requirements.
