Hyderabad: TRS, BJP clash over slow work
TRS and BJP supporters clashed and lodged counter-complaints against each other with the Malkajgiri police.
Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at East Anand Bagh in Malkajgiri on Tuesday during a review meeting by government officials on the pending Road underbridge work, as members of the BJP staged a protest demanding immediate completion of the work, which has been pending for the last six years.
TRS and BJP supporters clashed and lodged counter-complaints against each other with the Malkajgiri police.
The police registered separate cases and took eight BJP activists into preventive custody for staging a protest on the road.
According to Malkajgiri police, an official review meeting on the progress of the RUB was scheduled for 9.30 am on Tuesday. The programme was attended by government officials and Malkajgiri TRS MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao, and his supporters.
BJP activists gathered there and demanded immediate completion of the RUB which has been pending for six years. They raised slogans against the officials and TRS leaders.
The supporters of the two parties clashed and two BJP supporters were injured. They were shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Malkajgiri inspector A. Manmohan said two complaints had been received on the incident. Mr B Nagaraju complained against supporters of the TRS for injuring them during the protest and one Maitrinath complained against the BJP supporters for disrupting the meting.
“Two cases have been registered based on the counter complaints lodged by both the parties. Another eight persons, who are supporters of the BJP, have been taken into preventive custody for staging a protest in
the evening,” said the inspector.
