Karnataka CM's tweet gets a home for poor vendor and family

Mr Khadar told Deccan Chronicle he has lived on the pavement with his family for the last eight years as he couldn't pay rent.

Mysuru: For Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the harrowing plight of a street vendor, a 70 year-old unable to provide a roof over the head for his handicapped daughter and the rest of his family in Mysuru, moved him so much, he tweeted a message to a civic official, which has now transformed the life of this man.

Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep went looking for Abdul Khadar and his family who was living in a lean-to, on Mahadevapura main road, Bharath Nagar in Saathgalli, Anchya gram panchayat, following the CM’s tweet.

The DC has now written to the Slum Board and Mysuru City Corporation to launch a group housing scheme for the benefit of Abdul Khadar and others like him who live on the pavements of the 'heritage city'.

Mr Khadar told Deccan Chronicle he has lived on the pavement with his family for the last eight years as he couldn’t pay rent.
