Bengaluru: Nigerian gang in fake currency racket
According to police, the racket came to light after a city resident Rohith Sharma approached them.
Bengaluru: Cubbon Park police are searching for a Nigerian gang which is involved in printing fake currency notes in the city.
According to police, the racket came to light after a city resident Rohith Sharma approached them. He claimed two Nigerian nationals Williams and Patrik had offered to print fake currency notes of Rs 2,000 denomination.
They told Rohith that they can print Rs 2,000 currency note from white paper and even showed him how it is done using chemicals. The accused told him that they can print fake currency on a larger scale. They had asked for Rs 1 lakh in advance, but taken Rs 10,000 from Rohith.
They told him that they have not brought sufficient amount of chemicals and would meet him next day. The accused were operating a website ‘Globals Slab and bank note.com’ and Rohith had contacted them through the website.
