BJP corporators eased Manjunath out?
The allegation against him is that he was not addressing issues raised by opposition BJP corporarors.
Bengaluru: BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad, who was the face of the Palike for the last three years and four months, has been shunted out of the civic body. The allegation against him is that he was not addressing issues raised by opposition BJP corporarors.
But sources said that Mr Prasad was friendly with all corporators and did not discriminate against anyone. He, however, faced the wrath of the BJP corporators, who branded him a Congress man.
The source said, “Normally, any officer who has served for over three years is transferred. This is not a punishment transfer.”
“Mr Prasad was a no-nonsense officer who understood the problems faced by the corporators and public and reciprocated positively. But he was under tremendous pressure while addressing various issues. He was pulled up by the court for no fault of his and for decisions and resolutions passed by a few standing committees,” said BJP former corporator N.R. Ramesh.
Mr Prasad had to face flak for mistakes he did not commit. It was the BBMP which failed to address crucial issues like solid waste management, overflowing drains, clogged roads, flooding and markets, but the court pulled him up for not delivering, sources said.
He was earlier shunted out of the BBMP during the parliamentary polls on charges that he was supporting Congress politicians and snubbing BJP leaders. However, he was posted back to BBMP after the polls, the sources said.
