WARANGAL: Warangal mayor Gunda Prakash Rao who had initiated the Nagara Bata where he personally visits selected areas in greater Warangal to address the issues of residents seems to have conveniently skipped his own division 26 which is mired with several issues.

According to the residents of Mattewada, the area lacks proper drainage facility. The existing drain in the lane opposite the old Kakatiya theatre is narrow and old. A new culvert was built to allow flow drainage water was not aligned with the street, as a result, the drain water overflows on to the roads creating a stink.

P. Rama Rao an elderly resident of the colony said, “The situation is horrible when it rains as there is no place for the water to go. Rainwater gets mixed with the drainage water inundating the road and we cannot step outside our homes. Mr Gunda Prakash who is the corporator of the area is not concerned about the issues. We also met several other GWMC officials with our pleas but everyone denied responsibility. We do not know whom to consult to rectify the problem.”
