VG Siddhartha case: Police receive forensic report

After a massive search operation Siddharth\'s body was found in the Netravathi River on August 31 morning.

Mangaluru: With the police receiving the Forensic Lab Report on CCD Chief V.G. Siddharth's death on Thursday, the final autopsy report is likely to be out shortly. Siddharth (VGS), who came from Bengaluru, got down from his Innova car on July 29 around 6 pm at Ullal Bridge in Mangaluru and went walking on the bridge and late went missing.

After a massive search operation Siddharth's body was found in the Netravathi River on August 31 morning.

'The  the police had registered an Unnatural Death Report (UDR) case. Autopsy of the body was conducted at government Wenlock Hospital and the viscera samples were sent to the forensic lab.

The preliminary autopsy report which was available a few days after VGS' death is said to have hinted at asphyxia due to drowning as the reason for death. However the Forensic lab report was awaited for the final report.

The forensic lab report has now reached the Investigating Officer (IO) on Thursday.

City police chief Dr Harsha told reporters that the forensic lab report would be handed over to the doctors who conducted autopsy.

"We hope to get the final opinion shortly. However I cannot give details about the report," he said. This would help the police in probing the future investigation.

The police team has already questioned Siddharth's driver, his employees and officials and advisers in his firm, to ascertain the financial status of Siddharth.
