Hyderabad: A 30-year-old Siddeshwari alias Farzana Begum, who tried to meet Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in Medak, had a bitter experience and police allegedly tortured her and her two minor children. Farzana's husband Mohammed Khadeer died after police resorted to third degree by keeping him in Medak police station a few months ago.

When Khadeer died, the Muslim organisation and National Minority Commission responded and called for an inquiry. While the Commission was conducting an inquiry, the district authority visited Farzana's residence and promised to provide a government job, two bedroom house to the victim.

"I did not get any facilities from the government. When the Chief Minister was visiting Medak, I went to the place to meet the Chief Minister to submit my representation. When I started from my residence, one constable Pochaiah along with a woman constable detained me and my two minor children and took us to the police station. Later, the police shifted me and my two minor children to a police station in Nizamabad," Farzana said.

When Farzana refused to get into the police vehicle, police harassed her and she received bleeding injuries. "Just I wanted to bring notice to the Chief Minister about my problems. I lost my husband but the government must consider to fulfil their promises. I was upset after the police behaved roughly on me in the presence of my two minor children at the police station," she alleged.

Mohammed Khadeer was picked up by Medak police a few months ago from Hyderabad in connection with a theft case and resorted third degree to him suspecting his role. Later, police realised that Khadeer was innocent. Police abandoned Khadeer at his residence and he died due to injuries.

The National Minority Commission took suo motu and asked the Medak SP to submit a report. The case is still pending before the Commission.

The MBT leader Amjed Ullah Khan condemned the police misbehaviour with the widow and harassment. Police snatched the victim's mobile phone and erased all data from the phone. The police officers must respond and take action against policemen indulged in harassing the widow.
