Uttar Pradesh: Depressed over illness, woman commits suicide

Faridabad: A 47-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by setting herself on fire as she was apparently depressed over her prolonged illness, police said on Saturday.

Guddi had locked her family members inside their rooms at their Sector 31 residence before taking the extreme step on Friday night, police said. By the time the family managed to get out of their rooms, the woman had died.

Guddi's parents said that their daughter had been depressed for some time due to her illness. She is survived by her husband Bhim Singh Tomar, besides two sons and a daughter.
