5,000 5-foot Ganesh idols immersed amid tight security
The police is anticipating that over 700 idols in Cyberabad and another 100 in Rachakonda may be immersed on Monday.
Hyderabad: About 5,000 Ganesh idols that were taller than five feet were immersed in the limits of Cyberabad and Rachakonda police commissionerates on the final day of 11-day festivities on Sunday.

After inspecting the process at the IDL Lake in Kukatpally, Cyberabad police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said that about 4,000 police personnel had been deployed in the commissionerate limits to supervise the ongoing holy procession.
The commissioner asked his officers to take strict measures to prevent untoward incidents. The immersion procession went off flawlessly. The procession was monitored on around 8,000 CCTV cameras at both the commissionerate headquarters.
A total of 10,497 Ganesh idols of above five-feet were installed in Cyberabad and another 8,000 idols in Rachakonda.
On Sunday, 3,690 idols in Cyberabad and 3,967 in Rachakonda were immersed in 31 lakes.
Planning and collaboration have helped in conducting peaceful Ganesh idols immersion programme in Hyderabad, said home minister N. Narsimha Reddy.
“Ensuring better coordination with other departments, the state police oversaw a peaceful and incident-free idol immersion process,” he said.
