‘Focus on water bodies management’
Mr. Stalin was responding to a question in this regard from reporters as he went around the Kolathur constituency which he represents in the Assembly.
Chennai: Taking a dig at the Chief Minister, Mr. Edappadi K Palaniswami and his ministerial colleagues recent foreign travels, the DMK leader M K Stalin on Monday expressed the hope that at least now they will focus on managing the water bodies in the state ahead of the Northeast monsoon season from October.
Mr. Stalin was responding to a question in this regard from reporters as he went around the Kolathur constituency which he represents in the Assembly. The media pointed out to him that just with one hard downpour in Chennai on Sunday, the roads were already miserable and water logging seen in many places.
After interacting with the people at various points in Kolathur, Stalin said the most serious issue in the constituency was reports of several electrocution deaths as leakage of electricity was widely felt.
Stating that he had already raised this issue in the Assembly as early as 2016, Stalin said that the Electricity minister Mr. Thangamani, had then replied that under a massive Centre-assisted Rs.2,657 crore project all the LT/HT lines in the constituency would be re-laid as underground cables to ensure safety of citizens.
The progress in this project has been so tardy and the State government should take steps to expeditiously complete the scheme, urged Mr. Stalin. He also urged that the Chennai corporation should quickly complete its part of the work on the railway over-bridge between Kolathur and Villivakkam as the Railways have completed their part of the work. One of the applications was in the name of Mr. Udanidhi Stalin, DMK youth wing secretary, filed by one of the party functionaries.
