No permission for car yatra in solidarity with Naidu: DCP
Vijayawada: NTR District Police Commissionerate DCP Vishal Gunni said they have not granted any permission for the “Car Sanghibhava Yatra” proposed to be undertaken by IT professionals from Hyderabad to Rajahmundry in solidarity with TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu who has been lodged there in the Central Prison.
Addressing media here on Saturday, the officer pointed out that some social media platforms have reported about the car yatra to be taken out on Sunday, September 24, from Hyderabad to Rajahmundry. Telugu Desam supporters and sympathisers, including IT professionals from Hyderabad are planning the car yatra.
Vishal Gunni clarified that no permission has been given for any movement of a convoy of cars within the jurisdiction of the District Police Commissionerate. Already, there are restrictions under Cr.P.C. section 144 and section 30 of the police act. He maintained that legal action would be taken against owners of such vehicles.
The DCP said they have also granted no permission for Anganwadi and mid-day meals workers to stage a dharna on Monday, September 25, in Vijayawada.
He maintained that they have information about the possibility of outsiders joining the Dharna programme and unleashing violence. He recalled that many such incidents have happened in the past. Keeping in view the current law and order situation, they have not permitted any Dharna programme.
Vishal Gunni said Vijayawada city is being monitored by police personnel, CCTV and drone cameras, and through videography.
He maintained that all vehicles coming towards Vijayawada will be checked thoroughly from Saturday.
