Poverty Reduced to 6% in AP Due to Navaratnalu Schemes says Malladi Vishnu
Kakinada: State Planning Board vice chairman Malladi Vishnu on Saturday underlined that after state government started implementing Navaratnalu schemes, poverty in Andhra Pradesh has come down to 6 per cent from 13 per cent.
The board vice chairman, along with Eluru district collector V. Prasanna Venkatesh and Navaratnalu programme executive director A.S. Narayana Murthy, reviewed implementation of the welfare schemes in Eluru district on Saturday.
Vishnu said people’s representatives and officials are working in tandem to implement the sustainable development programmes successfully as per the standards set by the Niti Aayog.
He underlined that the state government has paid special attention to education and medical and health. This has helped children and decreased the maternity and infant mortality rates.
Collector Prasanna Venkatesh said medical officers are implementing special health awareness programmes in villages and supplying nutritious food to women and children.
ITDA project officer M. Surya Teja, Nuziveedu sub-collector Adarsh Rajendran, trainee collector Pooja and DRO G. Suryanarayana Reddy were present.
