Our ties with India at all time best, we give them full support: US
United States and India have never been closer in agreement on working together to counter terrorism, a top US diplomat in India said.
Agartala: A senior diplomat of United States posted in India expressed that the current Indo-U.S. ties are at an all time best, adding that India has the full support of the U.S. in its efforts to bring peace to the region.
"United States has said that the India's relationship with Pakistan is for India and Pakistan to workout but it is also true that United States and India have never been closer in terms of agreement on working together to counter terrorism and our military and intelligence relationship now is closer than ever been. We support India's effort to bring peace to the region," said US Consul-General in Kolkata Craig L Hall in Agartala on Monday.
According to him, the outcome of the November Presidential election in America and whichever party wins, be it Democrat or Republican, there won't be any impact on the Indo-US relationship which has become more and more strong over the years.
He said that be it Bill Clinton, George Bush or Barack Obama, all of them have worked towards strengthening Indo-US relations, which would be carried forward.
"There is a bipartisan agreement among Republican and Democrats in United States that the United State's relation with India is very important and I think that if you look back over recent history, Presidents from both Republican and Democratic parties starting with Bill Clinton then followed by George W Bush and then President Obama ensured that their relation with India is quite important," Hall said.
The US envoy sighting how his nation is involved in the regional development of Northeast India and viewed that the cooperation between Tripura and Bangladesh is a perfect example of how with improved and increased connectivity in various sectors both can be in a win-win situation.
Earlier Hall along with his wife had a discussion on various issues including regional connectivity and economic cooperation with Chief Minister Manik Sarkar of the Left ruled Tripura state.
