Telangana: Urban bodies didn't collect Rs 500 crore tax
None of the 68 urban local bodies in the state has collected all the revenue due to it, data shows.
Hyderabad: Urban local bodies have failed to collect Rs 500 crore in the form of tax, non-tax and other revenues. None of the 68 urban local bodies in the state has collected all the revenue due to it, data shows.
On the revenue collection front, the Warangal region fared better than Hyderabad. According to latest data, ULCs in the Warangal region had collected 41.03 per cent of the target in August against 40.56 per cent in the Hyderabad region.
The Hyderabad region has 36 urban local bodies excluding the GHMC and Warangal 31. In the Warangal region, the total balance to be collected under tax revenue was '26.98 crore against the demand of Rs 207 crore.
Under non-tax revenue, the region had collected Rs 20.71 crore against the demand of Rs 92.31 crore. Under the assigned revenue the demand was Rs 11.28 crore and the collection was Rs 4.62 crore.
In Hyderabad region, the tax revenue collection was Rs 13.91 crore against the demand of Rs 179.41 crore. The collection of non-tax revenue was Rs 22.57 crore against the demand of Rs 120.18 crore.
Under assigned revenue the collection was Rs 13.45 crore against the demand of Rs 33.16 crore. Despite this, officials said the collections was better this year as compared to 2017.
